       TFGs!

Many times our church hears me mention, “TFGs.” What is a TFG?  TFG stands for “Tokens for Good.”  I take my thought from Psalm 86:17 where David says: Shew me a token for good; that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed: because thou, LORD, hast holpen me, and comforted me.”  David asked God to give him a token for good that those people who hated him would see that God’s hand was still upon him and God was still his support.  The word “token” means: a flag, a beacon, a mark, or a sign.   David asked God to send him a token that was for good.  He was asking the Lord to literally flag his life with something to let him know that he was still on the right path.

I see these all of the time and they’re great items of prayer.  It is exciting when God sends us a token for good.  I recently had a man in my church that put his name on a card at a place of business to register for a free drawing.  This man was at church when a friend called him and told him that he had won the grand prize at this store and that he would need to call and claim his prize.  The man called and was shocked when he found that he had won $5,000.  He would later find out that his wife and daughter had been praying for a TFG in their lives, and did God ever send it!

Do you need assurance?  Do you sometimes just need proof that God still cares?  Would you like to see a sign or evidence that God is still on the throne?  We know that God loves us and cares for us and wants to bless us, but sometimes it’s just good to see a beacon of light that God sends to bring sweet assurance.  Pray for your own TFG.  They are real and they can help you through difficult times, whether you are in a physical battle, emotional turmoil, a financial struggle, or spiritual warfare .  Ask for your TFG today, and remember to thank Him when He sends it.

Pastor's Hunt in Montana

The church was so gracious to give me a guided Mule Deer hunt in the beautiful state of Montana.  Arrangements were made with renowned, Christian hunting guide, Chad Shearer.  Chad has his own television show on ESPN, Sports South, and The Outdoor Channel, and is known as a world class trophy hunter.

We arrived in the mountains of Montana in the afternoon with winds blowing 40 miles an hour and a temperature of 68 degrees.  The temperature dropped during the night to 26 degrees and we awoke in our tents to find several inches of snow on the ground.  The mountains were beautiful.  Trish and I were in awe of God's majestic creation.

This was the hunt of a lifetime!  I want to thank our church for this wonderful gift they gave me.  As you watch the video from Chad's TV program, "Shoot Straight," you'll see why Trish and I enjoyed our trip together so much.
